Sainsbury's stopped using face-scanning cameras — software that matches faces to a database — at its East Dulwich store after wrongly identifying Matt Arnold (46) as a shoplifter and asking him to leave. The store blamed staff, not the Facewatch system. Another shopper was wrongly flagged in September 2025. Similar mistakes hit Home Bargains and B&M.
