Housing minister says he can't stop fast-tracked building as four mayors demand a halt

Housing Minister Chris Bishop says he has no legal power to pause fast-tracked housing developments, and is not proposing a law change to do so. Four mayors — Auckland, Queenstown, Waimakariri and Selwyn — want a stop, saying some developments were approved before water, road and sewerage systems are funded or built. Bishop says the system works as intended.
