Israeli Bombings Kill 11 in Lebanon in Worst Violence Since June Peace Deal

On August 16, 2026, Israeli warplanes bombed three areas in southern Lebanon, killing at least 11 people, including children. Lebanon's Health Ministry said 19 were wounded. It was the deadliest attack since a US-backed peace deal stopped fighting in June. Israel said it struck back after Hezbollah — an armed group in Lebanon — attacked Israeli soldiers.
