American Held Nine Months in Niger Is Freed

Kevin Rideout, a 50-year-old American missionary and pilot, was freed after nine months as a hostage in Niger and is now with the FBI. A group linked to al-Qaeda seized him last October. His case tested America's ability to rescue hostages in Niger after a 2023 military takeover pushed out French and US forces.
