
Farage wins Clacton seat but skips result night as police dispute safety claim
Nigel Farage won the Clacton by-election (a vote to fill a vacant parliamentary seat) on 14 August 2026 with 63% of the vote, extending his lead to 12,784. He did not attend the result. Reform UK said police told him to stay away over a threat. The BBC reported that Essex Police did not tell any candidate to stay away.
