Broken Engine Part on Ryanair Flight Passed Safety Check Months Earlier

A broken engine fan blade on a Ryanair Boeing 737 flight from Thessaloniki on 10 July shattered a cabin window and partly threw passenger Ljubisa Karović outside. Investigators say that blade had passed a sound-wave safety check in May with no problems found. Now they must figure out whether the damage appeared afterward or was simply too small to catch. The answer could change engine safety checks across many airlines.
