On 12 August 2026, the Moon blocked 90–96% of the Sun across the UK and Ireland — the deepest such event since 1999. London's peak came at 7:12pm. In Cornwall, crowds gathered with simple pinhole projectors (card with a small hole that casts a safe image of the Sun) and shared eclipse glasses.
