Iceland to Experience First Full Solar Eclipse Since 1954

On August 12, 2026, the moon will pass directly between Earth and the sun, fully blocking sunlight over western Iceland for the first time since 1954 — a 72-year gap. The moon's shadow starts near the North Pole, sweeps south through the Arctic, and crosses Iceland and northern Spain. Hundreds of visitors are expected to come watch.
