Luxon keeps job as National leader but nearly half his MPs voted against him

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon faced a vote on whether National Party MPs still wanted him as their leader on 12 August 2026. He survived and said he had "full support." But several MPs told the NZ Herald the result was about 27-22 — meaning nearly half voted him down, 90 days before the election.
