Liverpool F.C. may sell 30% stake for £1.35 billion

A group including Jeff Bezos is close to buying 30% of Liverpool F.C. for about £1.35 billion, valuing the whole club near $5.9 billion (Reuters, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, Aug 10–11). The Wall Street Journal reported July 21 that owner Fenway Sports Group wanted $6–7 billion. The difference may stem from bargaining or currency conversion. Fenway would stay in charge.
