AI Gets Two-Thirds of the Way Toward Verifying a Famous Math Problem

Anthropic said August 10, 2026 that an unreleased AI model verified 67.2% of a famous 150-year-old math puzzle called the Riemann hypothesis, up from 41.6%. Two staff mathematicians checked the work using software that confirms proofs step by step. It is not a full solution. The Clay Institute's $1 million prize for solving it remains unclaimed.
