Makers of Fireworks Sued Over Wildfire That Destroyed Thousands of Acres
Three companies have agreed to pay over $4 million to settle claims over California's 2020 El Dorado Fire. The blaze started when pyrotechnic devices—fireworks used at a gender reveal party—malfunctioned. U.S. prosecutors are now holding manufacturers and distributors liable, not just the people who used the devices. The settlement covers only a fraction of the $35 million spent fighting the fire.
