Australia paused its Targeted Compliance Framework cancellations on 4 July 2024, halting a system that terminated social security benefits after eight mutual obligation failures. The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations is reviewing all cancellation decisions made between April 2022 and July 2024. Economic Justice Australia estimates 310,000 people faced unlawful payment cancellations during that period.
