Waymo Recalls Entire Fleet After Robotaxi Enters Flooded Road
Waymo voluntarily recalled all 3,791 active robotaxis on May 11 after a software defect allowed an unoccupied vehicle to drive onto a flooded San Antonio roadway during severe weather. The company reported the flaw to NHTSA on May 1. All affected vehicles received an interim software update. The fleet-wide recall indicates the vulnerability existed in core perception or decision-making modules rather than isolated systems.
