
Canvas Security Incident Disrupts Universities During End-of-Semester Period
Instructure's May 1 security incident on its Canvas learning management system forced the company to reset developer keys controlling API access for third-party integrations. The timing hit educational institutions hard: gradebook synchronization, attendance tracking, and analytics dashboards went offline during final weeks of spring semester, when technology teams were already managing end-of-term deadlines. Schools had to regenerate credentials for integrations tied to core academic operations.
