EU Fines Alphabet €890 Million for DMA Violations in Search and Play Store

The European Commission fined Alphabet approximately €890 million for two Digital Markets Act violations: €460 million for Google Search self-preferencing its Shopping, Hotels, and Flights services, and €430 million for Play Store rules blocking developers from steering users to alternative payments. Google has 60 days to comply or face periodic penalty payments. The DMA's theoretical maximum is 10% of global revenue — roughly $40 billion for Google.
