Five Thai Soldiers Killed in Narathiwat Attack as Peace Talks With BRN Stall

Ten armed assailants killed five Thai paramilitary soldiers and wounded six civilians at a Narathiwat checkpoint on July 22, seizing rifles and equipment before fleeing. The assault followed a car bombing in the same province by 24 hours. Formal peace talks between Bangkok and the BRN, expected in June 2026, have not resumed. No group has claimed either attack.
