After Brown matched stitching and measurements to online photos, Sotheby's authenticated it via photomatching to three games plus the 1972-73 season. It sold on July 20 for $89,600 — below the $150,000–$250,000 estimate. The gap between Chamberlain's possession in 1973 and a Goodwill rack remains undocumented.
