Canada Cancels Joint Bridge Opening Ceremony After Trump's 50% Tariff Announcement

Canada canceled a joint ceremony opening the $4.4 billion Gordie Howe International Bridge between Detroit and Windsor after Trump announced 50% tariffs on most Canadian goods. A Canadian spokesperson called celebrating "in light of trade action threatened by the United States" inappropriate. Canada holds its own ceremony July 24; the bridge opens July 27. The tariffs take effect in 30 days.
