Zucman-Tippet Study Proposes 2% Wealth Tax on UK Households Over £100M, Raising £10B Yearly
Economists Gabriel Zucman and Ben Tippet propose a 2% minimum tax on UK households holding over £100 million, targeting fewer than 1,000 families to raise roughly £10 billion annually. HMRC would calculate household wealth directly — not via self-assessment — and a 10-year exit tax would deter relocation avoidance. Zucman says the small scope means government "could implement this quickly."
