Rubio Frames Iran's Strait of Hormuz Posture as Leverage, Calls on Other Nations to Step Up

Secretary Rubio said on July 20 that Iran is using the Strait of Hormuz as leverage and urged other countries to "step up." The strait carries roughly one-fifth of global oil supply. His remarks came as US military strikes against Iran entered their ninth consecutive night. Rubio reiterated the US remains "open to diplomacy" but said "it has to be real, it has to be a deal."
