China to Raise Forex Reserve Ratio to 6% From November 15

China will raise its foreign-currency deposit reserve ratio to 6% from November 15, 2026, Reuters reported November 3. The requirement means domestic banks must hold back more dollar deposits, leaving fewer dollars to lend or sell. The move comes as the yuan has gained more than 5% against the dollar in 2026, its strongest level since 2022.
