China Lifts Dollar Deposit Reserve Ratio to 6%
China will raise its foreign-currency deposit reserve ratio, the share of dollar deposits banks must hold back, to 6% from November 15, 2026, Reuters reported November 3. That leaves banks fewer dollars to lend or sell. The yuan has gained more than 5% against the dollar in 2026, its strongest level since 2022.
