Nearly 200 independents running in 100-plus congressional races

Nearly 200 independent candidates are running in more than 100 congressional races in the fall 2026 elections, including 173 for the U.S. House, NPR reported Oct. 13, 2026. All 435 House districts and 33 Senate seats are on the ballot Nov. 3, according to AP and Ballotpedia.
