More than 800,000 people in England were waiting for ADHD or autism assessment at end of 2025, a government-commissioned review led by Prof Peter Fonagy found. ADHD waits alone reached 560,000, 17 times the 2019 figure; 254,000 waited for autism assessment. Nine in ten had waited at least three months.
