
Religious hate crimes hit record high in England and Wales
Police recorded 8,214 religious hate crimes in England and Wales, excluding London's Metropolitan Police, in the year ending March 2026, up 13% and the highest since records began in 2012. Offences targeting Muslims rose 15% to 5,132; antisemitic offences rose 10% to 3,162. The Met was excluded after a change in its recording system.
