European gas surged from €30 to €80 to hit highest since early 2023

Dutch TTF gas, Europe's benchmark price, jumped from 30 euros to 80 euros per megawatt-hour to its highest since early 2023, Reuters and the Wall Street Journal reported. TradingEconomics put the October 8 price at 79.60 euros, up 1.95% from the previous day. I expect pressure on heating bills and inflation if Gulf LNG stays tight.
