
Siberian Anti-Plague Institute Worker Dies of Suspected Pneumonic Plague
A woman employed at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute in Shelekhov, Siberia, died Oct. 5 of suspected pneumonic plague. Nearly 200 people are under medical observation and Irkutsk hospitals imposed quarantines. Rospotrebnadzor says she died of pneumonia of unknown etiology. The test results will show whether wider international reporting is required.
