North Carolina musician jailed for 18 months over streaming fraud

Mike Smith, a musician from North Carolina, was sentenced to 18 months in prison at federal court in Manhattan on Oct. 6 for music streaming fraud. Judge John G. Koeltl imposed the term after Smith pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. It will be followed by two years of supervised release.
