S&P 500 tops August peak to close at 7,818.93

7,818.93 is the new high for the S&P 500, the index tracking 500 big US companies. It rose 0.58% on Oct. 6, 2026 to its first record close in two months, topping the August peak for index savers, Reuters and CNBC report. With only technology and energy up since August, I question how broad this is.
