About 2,000 Detained, Mostly Children, in French School Protests

On October 2, French Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin said about 2,000 people, mostly children, were detained amid nationwide high-school protests over class sizes and teacher shortages. Education Minister Edouard Geffray reported 170 students and 65 staff wounded; Minister Laurent Nuñez said over 300 police were injured.
