Mahmood signals rethink on 10-year wait for settlement

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said she had heard concerns that settlement reforms were unfair. She told Labour conference the Government would balance fairness to legal migrants and British citizens. The proposals would extend indefinite leave to remain from five years to 10. Home Office sources said no final decision had been taken.
