10-year-old child and two women die in Channel dinghy carrying 105 people

A 10-year-old child and two women died Sept. 28, 2026 attempting to cross the English Channel in an inflatable dinghy carrying 105 people. The boat issued a distress call off Wissant, about 14 miles from Calais. French rescuers treated the three onboard; a helicopter medical team confirmed the deaths. Authorities reported 102 people rescued.
