Three die in overcrowded Channel dinghy carrying 105

Three people — a 10-year-old child and two women — died Sept. 28, 2026 trying to cross the English Channel in an inflatable dinghy with 105 people aboard. The boat sent a distress call off Wissant, about 14 miles from Calais. French rescuers treated the three; a helicopter medical team confirmed the deaths. 102 others were rescued.
