Dilnot says Burnham's free care plan for England could cost over £18bn and take decades

Sir Andrew Dilnot said Andy Burnham's proposed NHS-style care system for England could cost well in excess of £18bn and take decades to implement. He said reform was further away as Mr Burnham will put plans to voters at the next election, due August 2029. The Health Foundation estimated a universal system at around £18.5bn a year.
