France: 300 High Schools Blocked in Growing Student Protests

By midday Sept. 29, 2026, France's education ministry said 300 high schools were blockaded — entrances blocked to stop classes — with 40 arrests and 10 students and staff hurt. The protests began in Paris last week over crowded classes, teacher shortages and long schedules, after authorities reported 164 arrests the prior day. Their staying power will test the government.
