Dilnot warns Burnham's free social care plan for England would cost £18bn-plus

Sir Andrew Dilnot said Andy Burnham's plan for an NHS-style care system in England — free at the point of use — could cost well over £18bn and take decades. He said reform was further off as Mr Burnham will put plans to voters at the next election, due August 2029. The Health Foundation put the yearly cost at £18.5bn.
