20-year-old NSW constable Mia Lay killed in Redfern police crash

NSW Constable Mia Lay, 20, died instantly when a marked police car hit a tree on Gibbons Street, Redfern, about 1.30am on 25 September 2026. The car was travelling north with lights and sirens to a reported vehicle theft in Glebe. Lay, a passenger with 16 months' service, was killed.
