Dunedin councillor Benedict Ong plans independent bid for Dunedin electorate

Dunedin councillor Benedict Ong plans to stand as an independent in the Dunedin electorate at the 7 November general election. He announced the bid in a Facebook post, saying he wants to do more for his hometown. Ong said he could no longer drive the city forward as a councillor because of what he called wrongful bans and political attacks.
