Ong plans independent bid in Dunedin electorate

Dunedin councillor Benedict Ong plans to stand as an independent candidate in the Dunedin electorate at the general election on 7 November. He announced the plan in a Facebook post, saying he wants to do more for his hometown. Ong said bans and political attacks, which he called wrongful, stopped him driving the city forward as a councillor.
