Government delays LNG terminal decision until after election

The Government will not decide whether to underwrite a new LNG import terminal until after the election, ACT and New Zealand First leaders said after a Cabinet committee meeting. No contract will be signed before polling day, they said. The Government had earlier intended a pre-election contract so the terminal could operate by mid-2028 as dry-year backup.
