Britain Joins EU-Led OceanEye to Improve Storm Forecasting

Britain will join OceanEye, the EU-led programme that uses ocean monitoring to sharpen forecasts of storms, floods and other climate extremes.

Environment Secretary Angela Eagle will confirm it at UN headquarters in New York on 23 September 2026 with Ursula von der Leyen and Canada's Mark Carney. Britain will contribute more Met Office data to the EU and Canada.
