Green deputy leader's company owns rental properties despite party's pledge to phase out landlords

The BBC confirmed Green Party deputy leader Mothin Ali is sole director of MA Holdings, which owns two Leeds rental properties bought in 2022 and 2025. The Green Party of England and Wales adopted its 'Abolish landlords' policy in October 2025. The party said Ali acts for vulnerable family members and does not appear to profit from either property.
