Houthis Launch Multi-Front Offensive to Cut Taiz From Yemen's Coast
Houthi fighters struck across southwest Yemen on September 3, 2026, firing 14 ballistic missiles and launching drones at populated districts in Taiz and Hodeidah provinces. Two booby-trapped boats exploded near al-Makha port. The aim: sever the road linking Taiz city to the coast, isolating a government stronghold. At least 13 government troops and 18 Houthi fighters were killed. Controlling al-Makha would give the Houthis a Red Sea foothold and cut a vital supply route.
