
Yen surges to one-month high as markets bet 77% on BOJ rate hike
The yen jumped over 1.7% to 155.85 per dollar on 3 September 2026, its strongest in a month, extending a 0.9% gain from the prior session. Markets now see a 77% chance the Bank of Japan raises rates at its 17 September meeting, after Governor Ueda said the bank would debate a hike and policymaker Takata urged moving more "nimbly."
