U.S. Deports Afghan Man to Central African Republic Despite Judge's Order Protecting Him From Removal to Afghanistan

On August 30, 2026, the U.S. deported an Afghan man in his early twenties to the Central African Republic despite a judge's grant of withholding of removal to Afghanistan over feared Taliban persecution, his lawyer Alma David said. His brothers aided the U.S. military; the Taliban killed one. Withholding bars removal only to the specified country, not to third countries.
