Nearly 1,500 Missing, 177 Dead in Nepal–Tibet Himalayan Flooding

Nearly 1,500 people, including over 700 foreign nationals, are missing across Nepal and China's Tibet Autonomous Region after severe flooding struck the Himalayan border area in late August 2026. At least 177 bodies have been recovered in Nepal alone. Nepali police expect the death toll to rise as rescue operations continue across difficult, high-altitude terrain.
