UK Won't Speed Up Power Plant Cyber Rules After Iran-Linked Hack

An Iran-linked cyber-attack shut a small UK gas plant for four days in July 2026. The government has not accelerated mandatory cybersecurity standards for hundreds of similar unmanned plants, which won't take force until end-2030. Liberal Democrat MP Calum Miller called the delay "an unacceptable gamble with our national security." Officials briefed energy executives on the breach in late August.
