Audit Office clears Nelson councillor after council's months-long dismissal bid

Nelson City Council held hours-long closed-door meetings and came close to dismissing first-term councillor Lisa Austin over her family trucking business's interests. The Audit Office has now cleared her, granting approval after a fresh council application with new information. Austin, elected in October 2025, co-owns Austin Transport Tippers, which supplies trucks to council contractors.
