Sydney Marathon organisers admitted an "unfortunate error" after online sleuths spotted that the finisher's medal depicts Munich's Allianz Arena, home of Bayern Munich, instead of Sydney's Allianz Stadium. The double-sided medal was unveiled days before the 30 August 2026 race. A spokesperson said, "We're not going to run from it," adding the blunder drew mostly good humour.
